Words have a precise meaning at Sannmerk. Here is which one.
Definitions
Product▾
A stable commercial concept grouping several variants. « Ground filter coffee » is a product; the 750 g and 930 g formats are two of its variants.
Variant▾
The actually purchasable unit, identifiable by a barcode: a given flavour, size, market or formulation.
GTIN▾
The GS1 identifier printed under the barcode, of 8, 12, 13 or 14 digits. We treat it as a string: its leading zeros matter, and its last digit is a verifiable check digit.
Listing▾
The link between a retailer and a variant, through that retailer's internal reference. A single product has as many listings as there are chains selling it.
Offer▾
The commercial terms of a listing over a period and channel: in store, online, with or without membership conditions.
Price observation▾
An immutable fact: this price, at this place, on this date, seen by this source. A new observation never overwrites the previous one.
Provenance▾
The chain allowing you to trace a displayed fact back to its source, extraction method and timestamp.
Organisation role▾
The dated link between a company and a product: manufacturer, brand owner, importer, distributor or packer. A company can manufacture a product without owning its brand.
