A triterpenoid that is (2 S )-1,2,3,4,4a,5,8,8a-octahydronaphthalen-2-ol substituted by methyl groups at the 1, 1, 4a, and 6 positions and substituted at position 5 by a 2-[(4a R ,8a R )-2,4a,7,7-tetramethyl-3,4,4a,5,6,7,8,8a-octahydronaphthalen-1-yl]ethyl group.

β-selinene

A sesquiterpene that is cyclohexene in which the hydrogens at position 6 are replaced by a methylidene group and in which the pro - R hydrogen at position 3 is replaced by a (2 S )-6-methylhept-5-en-2-yl group.

The acyl group derived from any of the sialic acids in the β configuration by removing the hydroxy group from the carboxy group.

β-sitosterol 3- O -acetate

A steroid ester obtained by the formal condensation of the hydroxy group of β-sitosterol with acetic acid. It has been isolated from the mycelia of Cordyceps sinensis .

β-sitosterol 3-O-β- D -galactopyranoside

β-sitosterol glucoside-3'- O -hexacosanoicate

A steroid saponin that is β-sitosterol substituted by a 3- O -hexacosanoyl-β- D -glucopyranosyl residue at position 3 via a glycosidic linkage. Isolated from Acer okamotoanum , it exhibits anti-complement activity.

β-substituted porphyrin

A porphyrin compound which is substituted via the pyrrole groups in the porphyrin ring.

β-terpinene

One of three isomeric monoterpenes differing in the positions of their two double bonds (α- and γ-terpinene being the others). In β-terpinene the double bonds are at the 1(7)- and 3-positions of the p -menthane skeleton. β-Terpinene has no known natural source.

β-terpineol

A member of the class of terpineols that is cyclohexanol carrying additional methyl and propenyl substituents at positions 1 and 4 respectively.

β-thujaplicin

A monoterpenoid that is cyclohepta-2,4,6-trien-1-one substituted by a hydroxy group at position 2 and an isopropyl group at position 4. Isolated from Thuja plicata and Chamaecyparis obtusa , it exhibits antimicrobial activities.

β-thujene

A thujene that has a bicyclo[3.1.0]hex-2-ene skeleton which is substituted at positions 1 and 4 by isopropyl and methyl groups, respectively.

β-thujone

β-tocopherol

A tocopherol in which the chroman-6-ol core is substituted by methyl groups at positions 5 and 8. While it is found in low concentrations in many vegetable oils, only cottonseed oil contains significant amounts.

β-tocotrienol

A tocotrienol that is chroman-6-ol substituted by methyl groups at positions 2, 5 and 8 and a farnesyl chain at position 2. It has been isolated from various cultivars of wheat.

β-triketone

A triketone in which the each ketone functionality is located β- to the other two.
